My name is Lys-Ange LeBlanc and I am a French-Canadian multidisciplinary artist currently living in Norris Point located in Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland. I am a second-generation painter and printmaker, the son of Daniel Gautier a well-known maritime painter. I grew up by the sea in Magdalen Island in my dad studio gallery "Le Havre-Atelier Galerie" continuously surrounded by passionate artists flowing through the seasons. My up bringing in the arts always felt like home and inspired me to develop my own visual language with my art. As a painter and printmaker, I have a deep connection with my dad’s artworks that have been influential in my own work. As younger artist, I tried to find my own voice for years by experimenting with media, forms and mediums, but I finally found peace in the rootedness and the dialogue happening between my father and my own artworks. Unfortunately, my dad passed away in 2021 and his presence is still being missed greatly. Art for us always been a common language, I feel blessed by his teachings and now found his voice and gestures by my side comforting me every time I pick up a brush. My paintings and my prints are poetic depictions found in the landscape that pursue light, horizon and colors. I also use architectural elements to bring along the audience in my work and let them drift contemplatively in a familiar landscape.
